Camping Les Erables
There are many camp sites in Millau, we chose this one because it appeared in on of our guide books. The site runs from the road to the river, we were lucky enough to get a pitch on the riverside. The rive offers swimming and fishing as well as the oportunity to feed several hundred ducks. The site is well kept with good sized hedge lined pitches. The sanitory block is modern and kept clean. The reception area offers a bar and ice creams as well as table tennis and TV etc. Millau is a super town that offers all you will require, market days are good as the stalls line all the streets in the town centre (10 minute walk from site). There is a tree top adventure centre two minutes from site with courses for the kids and the brave. The adult course has two zip wires that cross the river a couple of hundred metres upstream from site. The area around Millau is stunning countryside, the Gorges Du Tarn are well worth a visit (see link above). Don’t forget that Millau has what it claims to be the highest bridge in the world which carries the motorway North to South (spectacular) there is a visitor centre for the viaduct at the south end. Millau is a great stopover location where you might want top dwell for a couple of days and in take the local area. Canoeing on the rivers is one of the local activities that is a must during your stay. Take a mini bus up stream and canoe back to town. Simply great fun.
Millau town is a great place. A five minute walk from the camp sites the town has many great bars and shops. Market day is brilliant, all the streets are lined with stalls with fresh fruit and produce tempting all.
