Isle of Skye
Located next to the River Sligachan and at the head of Loch Sligachan the site is in a great location.
There are many electric hookups on hard standing gravelled areas. It reminds me of some of the larger French Aires.
The toilets are reasonably modern and well kept. The best thing is the view. One of the best views to wake up to….
As well as the motorhome area, there is a vast space for tents which is located riverside.
Over the road is a whiskey pub and microbrewery at the Sligachan Hotel, a short five-minute walk from the site. Well worth a visit.
Cross over the old bridge that lies adjacent to the new road bridge and you can join a public footpath that takes you up into the mountains. The path is clear if it a little rugged. The day we went up there with the dog the rain was blowing through the valley and going uphill. The path crosses many cascading rivulets and small torrents as you get higher up. Follow this path for about half an hour and you reach a land that time has forgotten. Well worth the effort.
No pre-booking of this one as far as I could tell. Just pitch up, plug in and someone comes to collect your money later in the evening.
