Lots of you Motorhome owners will have travelled through France. Possibly en-route to another country or more likely just to holiday in France and soak up the variety and culture that this great country has to offer. France has a great network of municipal campsites which are clean, tidy and perfectly acceptable, in fact a lot of these are located in town or city centres, and make a great place to spend a night or two. Most of you will have heard of the “Aire” network of stopovers that are dedicated to Motorhome and Campervan fraternity, at most of these you will need to utilise all your own facilities. However, more on the in a future blog.
In this blog I want to tip you off about another great way to see the more rural side of France. This is “France Passion”.
France passion is a network of stopovers that are mostly located on farms and vineyards right across France. They are able to take a maximum of five vans per night, in a similar way to the UK Caravan Club, CL’s and the Camping and Caravan Club CS’s.
To access these nearly 2000 sites you will need to be a member of “France Passion”, we have bought this membership over the last few years from Vicarious books in Folkstone – www.vicariousbooks.co.uk .
France Passion was sold in shops last year for £25. Once you have paid this you have free access to all the sites that appear in the book, you will also get a dated membership sticker for your wind screen. Yes, that is correct! Once you have paid the annual membership these are FREE to use! We have stayed in a lot of these over the years on vineyards, olive groves, goat farms and fruit farms. Most have something for sale, you are not obliged to buy anything, but my experience says to give it a go. The fresh farm produce of France is inevitably good (particularly if it is made of grapes and red of colour).
So check this out. It is one of Frances well guarded secrets.
P.S. You will need your own facilities as these are working farms and are mostly offer only a beautiful place to stay.
