Whitemead Forest Park
Whitemead forest park is located in the heart of the Forest of Dean a few miles from Lydney. The park has many pitches for motorhomes and caravans as well as lodges, camping areas and glamping pods.
There is direct access to the forest and its unlimited miles of walking and cycling. The bottom end of the main circular cycle path is just along the track to the rear of the village. With the cycle centre being a further ten minutes ride away.
The site has so much to offer in the way of superb facilities. They include a swimming pool complex with Jacuzzis, a Turkish steam room and sauna. You can also book treatments in the beauty room. For those who haven’t had enough exercise there is a gym.
There is a large function room with a stage where the regular entertainment takes place. A separate bar with Sky TV, and free to access WIFI. In this area there is also a café/restaurant that serves meals throughout the day. For the self caterers there is a small shop that is usually well stocked for the essentials.
The two toilet blocks are well equipped and heated in the winter with separate washing up sinks at both blocks.
The village of Parkend is home to one end of the steam railway that runs from Lydney. Also in the village there are a couple of pubs that do decent food. One of these can be accessed directly from the site via a footpath through the forest, take a torch if you are in until after dark.
For the little ones there is a play area with ball pond etc, located near the restaurant.
All in all a great site in a great location. We have only really used this in the winter because of the great facilities on offer.
